One of our Projects: LIfelong Gardening

Gardening is such a healthy activity and has so many benefits to people, that we want it to be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. This is the premise the committee is using to guide their work on our newest group project. One is the business of designing a wheel-chair accessible garden for the Columbia County Health Care Center in Wyocena.

Another part of the project will be giving guidance about selection of plants for these types of beds. Members will be starting some seeds for plants to donate to the nursing home.

Members will also do some public education about Lifelong gardening. There will be examples of ergonomic tools, ways to adapt existing tools, techniques for adapting gardens and ideas for plants that are easy-care or have other qualities that make them useful for lifelong gardening.
