Wolf River Master Gardener Association

The Wolf River Master Gardner Association was formed in April 2008 and became the 50th member of the WIMGA in January 2009.  There are currently 25 members with 19 of the members “graduating” from the first Master Garden Class offered in Shawano and Menominee Counties in April 2008.  We meet on the 4th Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m.

Volunteer involvement of The Wolf River Master Gardner Association includes:

• Phone Line:  Members volunteered hours from 6/04/08 through 7/23/08 at the UW-Extension Office in Shawano on Wednesdays from 1 – 3 p.m. to answer any phone or walk-in questions. 
• Wisconsin Farm Technology Days:  Four members helped Bob Tomesh with the MG information booth at the Farm Technology Days in De Pere on July 15, 2008. 
• Shawano Farmer’s Market:  We have a MG information booth at the local Famer’s Market on Saturday mornings from 7:30 a.m. until noon.  The Farmer’s Market runs from 7/05/08 through 9/27/08.
• Newspaper Articles:  Members submit articles for the Wolf River Living section of the Shawano Leader.  These articles are in the Sunday edition of the Leader on the first Sunday of each month.
• Shawano County Historical Society:  Involvement with the planning and planting of native plants for the shoreline project at Heritage Park in Shawano. 
• Shawano County Fair:  Help on entry day and judging day with the open class flower entries at the Shawano County Fair 08/27/08 through 9/01/08.
