Master Gardeners assist with the Horticultural Library, act as docents in the Conservatory, help with selling in the Gift Shop, work in the greenhouse and in the gardens and help plan and implement the annual Plant Sale. MGs help the staff and help organize the annual Garden Tour along with other promotional activities.
MGs help in planting and maintaining the Horticulture Teaching garden on the UW - Madison campus.
Conservation Teams weed out invasive species and help with prairie propagation in county parks. They also monitor the conditions of Bicentennial Oaks.
MGs plant and maintain extensive beds around the Red Cross Building Headquarters in Madison.
Several MGs maintain the grounds of this religious retreat and conference center grounds used for meditation.
Help with planting, maintenance and teaching at Madison area community gardens.
Friends of WHA
Garden ExpoMaster Gardeners answer questions at the MG booth and other plant societies tables during this two day event to promote gardening and raise money for WHA TV.
Answer phones at the Telethon to raise money collect pledges, connected with the Wisconsin Gardener TV series.
Many Madison neighborhoods have local tours, newsletters and small garden projects around libraries and public spaces that require maintenance. Many Master Gardeners work with these types of projects along with other volunteer activities.
Garden clubs and other groups call Extension for speakers, and many Master Gardeners give talks throughout the year.
The Madison Area Master Gardener Association puts together an annual Garden Journal as a fundraiser. See the MAMGA website for more details on this fine publication.
The Madison Area Master Gardener Association provides funding for local horticultural projects and organizations in Dane Co. through a competitive grants program every year.
