“Being a part of the Dodge County Master Gardeners is an exhilarating experience. The appreciation and excitement that I see as we work together and learn is so wonderful. It has been an incredible journey that just continues to get better and better.”

“The Dodge County Master Gardeners program is a joy because it brings people with similar interests together. It is a joy to share ideas and interests with fellow gardeners, and to learn from their shared failures and triumphs. Also, gardeners are the nicest people around. There is no such thing as an evil gardener—or at least I haven’t met one yet.” Ken Thomas, Master Gardener Intern |

Master Gardeners are working on over 20 projects in the Dodge County area. Garden design, installation and maintenance have been completed at the Mayville Historical Society, the Satterlee Clark House in Horicon, and the Alzheimer’s Unit courtyard at the Beaver Dam Care Center. Gardeners maintain a prairie garden and rain garden in Horicon, landscape at several churches, work with youth at Dodgeland School and work on a number of beautification projects in area communities. Our current project list can be found in our latest newsletter. We also have a display at the annual native plant sale (link to www.marshmelodies.com for more information) and have an annual perennial sale in May.

“The reason I joined the Master Gardeners was to learn more and have more hands on experiences with other gardeners. After spending a season volunteering, I realized how vast and varied gardening is. The experience has taught me that I can make a difference and become more involved in areas I hadn’t previously thought about. I want to share every aspect of gardening with everyone!” Laurie Coplien, Certified Master Gardener |
