Every year there are several opportunities for MGs to attend exclusive conferences in Wisconsin and around the country. These conferences are designed for and hosted by MGs, and often include field trips to areas of local interest.
Annual WI MG Conference
The WIMGA holds a conference open to all members every year. Each conference is hosted by one or a group of local MG associations, with an attempt to rotate to sites through different areas of the state.
Regional MG Conference
The states of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin hold a joint conference in even-numbered years in early to mid-summer. The four states rotate hosting the event.
International MG Conference
This large conference for MGs in the U.S. and Canada is held in the summer of odd-numbered years, and is hosted by one or more MG groups from around North America. The location is rotated through different regions of the continent. The International Master Gardener Committee selects conference sites from submitted applications.
Hosting a MG conference is a great way for an association to showcase their area and local experts to other MGs, and can be an opportunity to get to know nearby associations when jointly hosting an event. MG associations that have hosted previous conferences thought the process greatly benefited their group in a variety of ways.
