The 290-acre arboretum surrounds the campus of UW-Green Bay.  It features over 500 different plant species in a prairie, sedge meadow, dry and mesic forests and sand barrens, as well as many birds, butterflies, mammals, and amphibians.

A state park operated by the WI Department of Natural Resources, it is a 40-acre complex of 25 furnished, historic buildings grouped into pioneer, small town, military and agricultural theme areas.  Included in the complex are 4 period gardens: a fur-trade garden, a 1905 Belgian farm garden, an 1836 garden, and a garden of the 1870’s. Plant varieties that would have been grown at that time are featured.  Some documentation is available.

An outdoor museum of immigrant farm and village life, Old World Wisconsin is on 576 acres.  It includes ten farms and a crossroads village, more than 65 original historic structures, rare historic breeds of animals, hundreds of heirloom plants, miles of nature trails, and diverse wildlife.

A 40-acre strolling park featuring a restored prairie, heirloom gardens, a farmhouse and barn from the early 1900’s, and a museum of old farm machinery.  Non-hybrid vegetable varieties and plants used for dying fabrics are grown in the main heirloom garden.  Kitchen herbs are grown near the house.  Activities reminiscent of the period are held twice a year.
