2009 Plant Cytogenetics Training Workshop (PCTW)

The 5th Plant Cytogenetics Training Workshop (PCTW: http://www.hort.wisc.edu/jjiang/workshop_photo.htm) will be held in the 1st  week of October (Oct. 5-11, 2009) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The 2009 PCTW will be modified by adding a two-day module for FingerPrinted Contig (FPC) training.  An increasing number of plant physical maps have been developed by fingerprinting of bacterial artificial chromosomes.  We will teach how to use the recently developed FPC Web tools (Plant Physiol. 138: 116-126) to exploit the publicly available BAC-based physical maps and use the identified BAC clones as FISH/fiber-FISH probes.

Day 1-5 (Oct. 5-9)

Day 6-7 (Oct. 10-11)

The workshop will hosts up to 10 people.  In principle we will allow only one person from each lab in a particular year.  If more than 10 people apply, then the first 10 people will be accepted.  Please contact Susan Wielgus (swielgus@wisc.edu) to reserve a slot.  Please specify whether you wish to attend Days 1-5 (Oct. 5-9) or Days 1-7 (Oct. 5-11).
